About Cockatiel
Scientific Name  Leptolophus hollandicus

Also known as a Quarrion.  Large congregations are sometimes seen around water, or during seasonal migrations. 

 

Females have a duller head and crest, and their outermost tail feathers are irregularly barred with pale yellow and grey.

 

Cockatiels feed mostly on the ground, on the seeds of grasses, herbs, and shrubs.  They also eats grain and berries.

 

Favouring the hollow limbs of trees growing in or near water, with four to seven eggs being laid in wood dust at the bottom of the hollow.

 

Common in open or lightly timbered country in the drier parts of all mainland states of Australia.
