Pat a Dingo!

Kosi and Smiggins have grown up now, but we  think they looked so cute playing together as pups, that we put this photo here just to show you.

Pat the alpine dingoes as they go for their daily stroll through the sanctuary.

Brothers Kosi and Smiggins, graduated from puppy school where they learnt obedience training alongside the local family dogs. Their natural curiosity and playful nature may have been a handful at times, but they passed with flying colours.

Kosi and Smiggins got their names because they are Alpine dingoes. Kosi is named after Mt Kosciusko which is Australia's highest mountain (2,228 metres, 7,300 feet). Smiggins is named after an Australian ski resort.

About Dingoes
The dingo evolved from the Indian wolf 6,000 years ago and were introduced into Australia by Asian seafarers 3,500 years ago.

They live in family groups and are solitary hunters. Their diet consists of mammals, reptiles and birds.

Dingoes are more active at sunrise and sunset when it is cooler. Due to interbreeding with domestic dogs, pure dingoes are becoming a rare sight.
