Yes. You can hire a wheelchair free of charge at the entry. If you contact us in advance we can reserve a wheelchair for you.
No. Although the wild animals that call Lone Pine home can be quite bold and seem interested in your food, please refrain from feeding them. Our food is not a part of their natural diet and can result in illness.
We are open from 9:00am until 5:00pm every day of the year.
The only exceptions are Anzac day (1:30pm - 5:00pm) & Christmas Day (9:00am - 4:00pm).
No. The City Cats route does not extend to Lone Pine. The Mirimar is the only boat that visits Lone Pine.

Lone Pine is located only 15mins from Brisbane CBD. The hotels there would be the most convenient as
public transport is close by and drops you right at our front door.

There are two cafes at Lone Pine. The Sleepy Koala Cafe is located in the sanctuary and serves hot & cold meals and drinks.
It is open from 8:30am - 3:00pm.
The Riverside Cafe is located just outside the main entrance along the beautiful Brisbane River. No admission fee is required.
The Riverside's opening hours are 9:00am - 4:00pm.
Free Wi-Fi is available at both locations.
Yes. There are plenty of areas to have a picnic lunch. A popular spot is along the river near the wild Lorikeet feeding area.
Our liquor license does not permit BYO alcohol, however we sell beer and wine at the two cafes.
We don't run a shuttle service, the Brisbane city council bus service runs two buses that stop inside of Lone Pine.
Bus 430 leaves from platform B4 in the Myer centre bus station. Bus 445 leaves from stop 40 on Adelaide st.

Yes. Currently we only accept work experience students aged 18 years and over. Any work experience requirements must fit
into our volunteer program.
Yes you do! you can hold one of our cuddly koalas any time between 9:00am and 4:30pm. No need to book a time, just see our friendly staff at the photography section
No, you can hold a koala for free but you won't be able to take any photos on your camera. If you
do purchase a souvenir photograph, you will then be able to take some photos
on your own camera. The proceeds go towards building new enclosures, our research projects
and eucalyptus plantations.
No. All our koalas are used to human interaction as they experience it from a very early age. Our koalas can only be handled for a maximum
of 30mins per day and they have every third day off. If in that 30 mins the koala seems restless, or is having a bad day,they will go
straight home. This system is strictly followed by all staff.
The koalas don't mind being handled as they experience it from a young age. All our staff are highly trained and the needs of the koalas are
their top concern.
What other animals can I hold?
You can hold a snake, baby saltwater crocodile, an owl or an eagle.
You can also hold baby chickens and guinea pigs in the barnyard and handfeed kangaroos and wallabies in the reserve.
At the wild lorikeet feeding area, you may be lucky enough to have one of the birds land on you!
You can adopt a Lone Pine Koala through the Australian Koala Foundation. You can find out more information at
