The Guinea Pig (or Cavy) is a rodent native to the grasslands of South America. Domestication of the Guinea Pig is reported by Peruvian archaeologists to have occured from at least 9,000BC.

Guinea Pigs are a popular household pet as they are affectionate, social and come in a multitude of colours and patterns. They communication with squeals, chirps, squeaks and whistles. Although not known for their intelligence, they do recognise their owners and will seek them out and return affection.
What’s on the menu?
Guinea Pigs are herbivores (plant eaters) and depend on humans for food. Guinea Pigs are often fed lettuce, cabbage, and various types of grassess, fruit and feed pellets.
