Introduction

The shell of this turtle grows to about 20 cm in length and has a serrated hind edge.  There are five claws on the forefeet and four on the hindfeet.

Food
Feeds on tadpoles, small fish and aquatic invertebrates.
Breeding

The female buries up to 15 eggs in the river bank of a stream.  There is no parental care after these eggs have been laid.

Habitat

Distributed throughout river systems of north-eastern Australia.
