The conspicuous yellow
or cream eye stripe of the Kreft's Turtle help distinguish it from
other freshwater turtles that only have a stripe on the lower
jaw. There are five claws on the forefeet and four on the
hindfeet.

The female buries up
to 15 eggs in the riverbank. There is no parental care after
egg laying.
