Introduction

The conspicuous yellow or cream eye stripe of the Kreft's Turtle help distinguish it from other freshwater turtles that only have a stripe on the lower jaw.  There are five claws on the forefeet and four on the hindfeet.

Food
Aquatic invertebrates, tadpoles and fish.
Breeding

The female buries up to 15 eggs in the riverbank.  There is no parental care after egg laying.

Habitat

Larger rivers, waterholes and billabongs of their floodplains in eastern and northern Queensland.
