Swamp wallabies are
not closely related to any other species of wallaby. They
are solitary, but may feed in small groups. During the day
they shelter in undergrowth and emerge at night to feed.
Food
A wide range of native
and exotic vegetation is eaten with a preference for browse
consisting of shrubs and bushes rather then grass.
Breeding
A single young is born
at anytime of the year. It remains inside the mother's
pouch for eight to nine months and suckles until it is about
fifteen months of age.
Habitat
Thick undergrowth of
forests, woodlands and heath in eastern and south-eastern areas of
Australia.
