Introduction

Australia's largest skink.  A shy and swift-moving lizard, usually seen basking in the sun.  It scuttles away quickly when disturbed.

Food

Feeds during the day on insects, snails, berries and mice.

Breeding

Females give birth to four to nine live young in late summer.  Young are independent at birth.

Habitat

Rainforests and adjacent forests in south-east Queensland and the north coast of New South Wales.
